Jeffrey Lurie is the current owner of the Eagles, having purchased the team in 1994 for $185 million. Under Lurie’s ownership, the Eagles have won nine division titles, two NFC Championships, and one Super Bowl. Lurie is also a member of the NFL’s Committee on Los Angeles Opportunities, which is responsible for exploring options for an NFL team in Los Angeles.
Prior to purchasing the Eagles, Lurie was a successful film and television producer. He has produced such films as “Inside Job,” which won an Academy Award in 2011. Lurie also served as the chairman of the board of directors for Comcast Spectacor, the company that owns the Eagles and the Philadelphia Flyers.
He graduated from Clark University with a master’s degree in Social Policy from Boston University and holds an honorary doctorate from Tufts University.
As of the 2024-2025 season, the Eagles are worth $6.6 Billion dollars and are the 8th most valuable franchise in the NFL, according to Forbes.
The Eagles play their home games at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia. Lincoln Financial Field is also the site of the annual Army-Navy game, which is traditionally held on the last Saturday of November.
The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American football franchise based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. National Football League (NFL) members are part of the NFC East division. The Eagles have won three NFL championships, including one Super Bowl with a win over the New England Patriots in 2017.
The franchise was established in 1933 as a replacement for the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets when a group led by Bert Bell secured the rights to an NFL franchise in Philadelphia. Bell, Chuck Bednarik, Bob Brown, Reggie White, Steve Van Buren, Tommy McDonald, Greasy Neale, Pete Pihos, and Sonny Jurgensen are among the all-time Eagles greats.
The team has an intense rivalry with the New York Giants. This rivalry is the oldest in the NFC East and is among the oldest in the NFL. They also have a historic rivalry with the Washington Commanders and their bitter rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys, which has become more high-profile in the last three or so decades.
