The Cincinnati Reds franchise’s current owner is Robert Castellini, who purchased the team for $270 million in 2006. Castellini also serves as the CEO and chairman of the board for the Reds. Prior to purchasing the Reds, Castellini served as a minority owner of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1996 to 2002.
The Castellini family also owns several other businesses in Cincinnati, including cast-iron products manufacturer Midwest Casting Company and produce distributor Castelloway Farms.

They were widely known as “The Big Red Machine” due to their success during this period.
The 1990 World Series Championship
After nearly 15 years without a postseason appearance, the Reds returned to prominence in 1990 with a dominant regular season in which they went 91-71 and swept the Oakland Athletics in four games in the world series.
This championship team was led by future hall-of-Famers Barry Larkin and Eric Davis, along with MVP winner Jose Rijo on the mound. It would be another 14 years before they returned to the postseason again in 2010.
