Morant was born in South Carolina and grew up in the small town of Dalzell. He started playing basketball at a young age and quickly developed into a top prospect.
Morant played AAU ball for the Birmingham Storm and then attended Crestwood High School. He led his team to a state championship as a junior and was named Mr. Basketball for the state of South Carolina.
His play style can be best described as aggressive and attacking. He is always looking to push the tempo and get his team into transition. When he has the ball in his hands, he constantly probes the defense and looks for ways to get to the rim. He is also an excellent finisher around the basket and has a knack for making tough shots in traffic.
Additionally, he is a very good passer and can find open teammates when defenses collapse on him. Morant is also an outstanding defensive player. He has great lateral quickness and uses his length well to bother shooters.
Ja Morant is an incredible talent and potentially one of the best players in the NBA. He has electric athleticism, a great feel for the game, and the ability to make plays for himself and his teammates. Very few players in the league have the complete package that Ja Morant possesses.
The biggest question mark surrounding Ja Morant is his shooting. He is not a great outside shooter at this point in his career, which could limit his player upside. If he can develop a consistent outside jumper, there is no reason he couldn’t be an All-Star or even MVP-caliber player in the NBA.
There are very few players in the league with as much upside as Ja Morant. He has the potential to be a special player in the NBA, and it will be exciting to see how his career evolves.
