Troy Aikman was born on November 21, 1966, making him 58 years old as of 2024. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Aikman is currently a television broadcaster for ESPN Monday Night Football.
Aikman’s height is 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 meters). His weight is 210 pounds (95 kilograms). He was the prototypical size you want your starting Quarterback to be in the NFL.
Troy Aikman played college football at the University of Oklahoma and then transferred to UCLA, where he was an All-American quarterback in 1988. The Cowboys selected him with the first overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.
His NFL career got off to a rocky start as he struggled to adapt to the professional game. However, he soon turned things around and led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories in four years. Aikman retired from football in 2000 after suffering a series of concussions.
Since retiring from playing, Aikman has worked as a television sportscaster, notably for Fox NFL and now ESPN Monday Night Football. He has also served as a color commentator for NFL on Fox’s Thursday Night Football broadcasts.
Aikman was known for his pinpoint accuracy as a quarterback. He could place the ball exactly where he wanted it, and his receivers knew it. This made him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league, as opposing defenses had to respect his arm and could not focus solely on stopping the run.
He was also a tremendous leader on and off the field. He was a true captain of his team, and his teammates respected him immensely. He was always positive and upbeat, even in the toughest situations. This helped him rally his team to many come-from-behind victories.
