Isaiah Coronado
BU9 Blue

Last week, we received news that Isaiah Coronado, from our Boys Under 9 Blue team, coached by Pierre Barrieu, was taken into the hospital after the discovery of a tumor in the head.  After numerous tests including, a Spinal Tap, bone marrow tests and a CT Scan - Leukemia has been ruled out - thankfully!  Chemotherapy has now begun and Isaiah has begun the recovery process.

An update from Manuel Coronado:

(Wednesday 1/20/10) Good evening everyone, just to give everyone an update on my boy. We
met with his doctor and were informed that Isaiah will have to go
through the same treatment as someone that has leukemia. His tumor has
been diagnosed as lymphoma but it’s at the stage where it’s
catagorized as lymphoblastic lymphoma.  It is not at an advanced stage
to be hogkins/non hodgkins. We were told that they would have to have
found more than 10% of lymphobytes in the bone marrow in order to be
diagnosed with leukemia. Isaiah’s was at 3%. In his case his symptoms
would eventually lead to leukemia if not treated. We begin
chemotherapy this coming Monday at Children’s Hospital. The positive
is that he might not have all the side effects that anyone would more
than likely get. He will lose his hair and gain weight but since his
body is in good condition he might recover quicker and not be at risks
of other side effects like bone soarness or risks of his immune system
getting too weak. Of course all this isn’t without some risk, as
parents you can’t help to be nervous and have some fear but we trust
his doctors and have faith in the big guy up stairs that he’ll keep
him safe. It will be a tough year but with support of family and
friends like yourselves it’ll make it a little easier. I humbly ask to
keep my boy and my family in your prayers.
Thanks
Manuel
