South Bay Force teams rolled to success at the 2012 Real So Cal Invitational and Legends Cup where 4 South Bay Force team won their Flight-1 Championships.   Congratulations to B02 Boys Under 9 (Quigley) at Legends Cup, and at Real So Cal Invitational, B00 Boys under 11 (Chorvat), G98 Girls under 13 (Hancock), and G97 Girls under 14 (Salazar) for all winning their Flight-1 Championships!

With Jim Millinder leaving Southern California to take the head coaching job for the University of San Francisco women’s team, the club searched and found Dan Tobias, a leader with extensive experience at the highest levels of girls soccer. Dan is a two time Pac-10 Women’s coach of the year (at two different schools) and former Soccer America National Coach of the Year....

Congratulations to South Bay Force partner LA Galaxy for winningthe MLS Championship for 2011.  It took four-and-a-half years, but David Beckham and the LA Galaxy finally got the perfect, Hollywood ending that had seemed like it would never come.....

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, January 3, 2012) – LA Galaxy Homegrown Players Jack McBean and Jose Villarreal (South Bay Force) have each been included in the U.S. Under-20 National Team’s 36-man roster for a training camp that began on Monday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This is the second U-20 camp under head coach Tab Ramos for Villarreal and the first for McBean, who was a member of the Galaxy’s MLS Cup winning side last season.

SBF player Jamie Villarreal, brother of Jose Villarreal, selected by LA Galaxy Youth Academy as one of 26 players on the 2012 roster.   This selection comes shortly after Villarreal was selected by the U.S. Soccer technical staff as one of 78 named Development Academy players who will be divided into four select teams and compete in two games during the 2011 Winter Showcase at the Premier Sports Complex in Sarasota, Fla.   The games featuring players predominantly born in 1995 and 1996 were held Dec. 3 2011.

 

Congratulations to Coach Lee Hancock and his B03 (Boys U8) side for winning the 2011 Coronado Holiday Cup over the weekend of December 17-18. Pool play started on Saturday the 17th with the boys beating Carlsbad Strikers 8-0, and then defeating Nado SC 4-1. The next day the boys faced Carlsbad Lightning prevailing 7-0 before being crowned Champions after a decisive 4-1 win over Surf Premier.

Over 200 college coaches descended upon Atlanta, GA, on December 2-4 for a College Showcase tournament held in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four college matches.   In addition to the Club teams playing in the showcase, teams were invited to watch the NCAA semi-final matches and NCAA Championshipgame.   Final match this year was Stanford versus Duke.
